25 Jan 2010 Phase 4 of the Tier 4 will come into affect next month changing the method of sponsoring students under the points-based system. From 22 February 2010 visa letters will no longer be used and Tier 4 Sponsors willm need to use the sponsorship management system to issue confirmations of acceptance of studies to all potential students inside the UK or applying from outside the UK.

Foreign Skilled Migrants Get Identity Cards
06.01.2010- Identity cards will be rolled out to foreign skilled migrants and their dependants.
A migrant in one of the categories who applies to extend their stay in the UK must submit their biometrics before the UKBA decides on the extension- if the extension is successful they will be issued an identity card.
