UK Immigration Minister Damian Green confirmed that the Worker Registration Scheme will be closing on the 30 April 2011.
The Worker Registration Scheme is a transitional arrangement introduced in 2004 when the A8 (Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia) joined the European Union.
This Scheme enables the UK Border Agency to monitor: the the UK Labour Market, type of employment these people are undertaking and the total impact these people are making on the UK economy.
With the closure of the Worker Registration Scheme A8 Nationals will have full access to the UK Labour Market with the same conditions as other EU nationals from 1 May 2011.
A8 nationals looking to work in the UK will also receive the same entitlements to out of work benefits as other non A8 nationals.

Tips: Submitting your UK Visa through an Agent
If you decide to use an independent travel agent, immigration consultant or Agent there are some general tips to ensure that you choose correctly:
Agents/consultants cannot guarantee that they will be able to get you a study or work visa.
No agent should guarantee that you will receive the visa without an interview or guarantee the outcome of your visa application.
If you do contact an agent and they make such claims be very careful and ensure that you receive everything in writing and check any contracts that they will have you sign before you sign it.
I have been working in the Immigration Industry since 2002 and have never made any guarantee of an outcome whether it be a Study/Work/Family or Visit Type Visa
The terms of service and fees associated with Immigration Consultants, Agents and Lawyers can obviously vary and it is extremely important for you to feel totally comfortable enough with your agent/lawyer/consultant to bring up any concerns before you enter into an agreement.
Always remember that the application for the Visa is YOUR application and the documents provided are your property, an agent may help you complete the necessary forms and guide you as to what documentation to submit with.
A large part of my duty as an Immigration Consultant is to inform potential visa applicants on their eligibility and the rules associated with the particular visa type.

Points System Pilot Process Evaluation
This report presents results from extensive research into Highly Skilled Migrants who applied to work in the United Kingdom under Tier 1 of the Points Based System.
-There was a high level of satisfaction with the points based application process with about 82% claiming they were very or basically satisfied. Majority of applicants seem to find the information on the Tier 1 and process easy to follow and transparent and applicants that had previously applied to the UK under the previous routes would most likely see the Points Based System as a better option.
The report found that the guidance notes on the application process generally were found to be useful however there was dissatisfaction with the length of time it took to receive assistance and the usefulness of this assistance provided. Although most applicants found supporting evidence easy to submit, except some people found the previous earnings proofs difficult to produce and comments suggest that greater flexibility would be welcomed in this regard.
There was some demand to track the application via an online tool. A large percentage of in country applications would prefer to submit their applications online, which is not currently offered at all.
